Why dedicated fertilizer formulation software?
In many companies, formulation still relies on spreadsheets built up over the years. They work, until the day a raw material's content changes, two versions of the same recipe are in circulation, or a product label is no longer up to date after a change to the formula. Every manual recalculation is an opportunity for error, and a composition or labelling error is often discovered too late: during an inspection, or at the customer's site.
BlendExpert brings together in a single tool the data used to formulate, produce and declare. The calculated composition, the recipe produced and the label statements all rely on the same information, which removes re-keying and discrepancies between departments.
Formulation and blend calculation
BlendExpert supports the formulation of your fertilizers and the calculation of blends. Each recipe is based on the characteristics of the raw materials used, to reach the target composition without manual recalculation. When a raw material changes, the composition of the recipes that use it can be recalculated from the new values, rather than corrected formula by formula.
Raw material and recipe management
Raw materials and recipes are centralised in a single tool. Your teams work on shared, up-to-date data rather than scattered spreadsheets. Formulation, production and regulatory affairs consult the same reference: everyone knows which recipe is current and which values it is based on.
Composition checks
Compositions are checked against the requirements applicable to each product. Discrepancies are identified before the product is placed on the market, not during an inspection. Checking upstream avoids producing and bagging a non-compliant batch, then having to recall or relabel it.
Regulatory labels, technical data sheets and compliance documents
Based on the verified composition, BlendExpert generates regulatory labels as well as technical data sheets and compliance documents for your products. The statements stay consistent with the recipe actually produced. When a formula changes, the related documents are produced from the new composition, with no copying and pasting from one file to another.
Regulation (EU) 2019/1009 and NF U standards
BlendExpert covers several regulatory frameworks depending on the target markets, including EU Regulation 2019/1009 on fertilising products and the relevant French NF U standards.
Regulation (EU) 2019/1009, applicable since 16 July 2022, governs the placing on the market of CE-marked fertilising products in the European Union. It classifies products into product function categories and sets composition and labelling requirements for each of them. Alongside it, many products are still sold in France under NF U standards, such as NF U 42-001 for fertilizers or NF U 44-051 for organic soil improvers.
